Poker - Seven Card Stud

7 Card Stud is probably the most well known of all Poker games and is the standard poker game played in most households throughout the world.
Not including the ante, there are five complete rounds of betting in each hand of Seven Card Stud until the showdown.
On the first round of betting, the low card by suit is required to initiate action with a bet equal to half the lower limit (bring-in). Suits are ranked: spades (highest), hearts, diamonds, clubs. On subsequent rounds, the high poker hand on board initiates betting action. If hands are tied, the player to the left of the dealer acts first. In all cases, the system will inform the players as to who acts first. When it is your turn to act, your spot at the table will be highlighted.
The stakes for the game being played determines the size of the bets for each round of betting in Limit games. The first two rounds of betting are at lower limit for that stake and the last three rounds of betting are at the higher limit for that stake. E.g., if the stakes are $4/$8, then the bets would be $4 for the first two rounds, and $8 for the last three rounds. There is one exception. If any player has made exposed pair with his first two exposed cards then the betting for that round may optionally be at either the lower or higher stake.
The maximum allowable number of bets during any particular betting round is four. This would consist of (1) a bet, (2) a raise, (3) a re-raise, and (4) a cap. The term cap is used to describe the 3rd raise in a round since betting is then capped and cannot be raised anymore. Once the pot is capped, players will have only the option of calling or folding.

Sequence of action for 7 Card Stud
First Round

Ø      All players ante.

Ø      Each player is dealt two cards face-down (hole cards) and one card face-up (door card), starting from the player to the left of the dealer

Ø      First betting round. The player who has the lowest card by suit is the "bring-in", and must make a wager of either a half a small bet or a full small bet (player's option). For example, if the table stakes are $4/$8, then the bring-in would be $2 or $4. Action continues clockwise around the table until betting is complete for the round.

Second Round (4th Street)

Ø      Each player is dealt one card face-up.

Ø      Second betting round. Betting starts with the player who has the highest hand for all betting rounds after the initial betting round. This player may either check or bet. If no player shows a pair amongst his or her exposed cards, the bet will be a small bet ($2 in a $2/$4 game). If any player shows a open pair, the betting can be opened for a big bet ($4 in a $2/$4 game). If the player bets the low limit, then subsequent raises are equal to low limit. Similarly, if the player bets the high limit, then all following raises are equal to high limit. If no players have pairs, then betting is at the low limit. If hands are tied, the player to the left of the dealer acts first.

Third Round (5th Street)

Ø      Each player is dealt another card face-up.

Ø      Third betting round. The first player to act is the individual whose exposed cards have the highest poker value. This player may either check or bet.

Fourth Round (6th Street)

Ø      Each player is dealt another card face-up.

Ø      Fourth betting round. The first player to act is the individual whose exposed cards have the highest poker value. This player may either check or bet.

Fifth Round (River)

Ø      Each player is dealt a last card face-down.

Ø      Final betting round. The first player to act is the individual whose exposed cards have the highest poker hand value. This player may either check or bet.

The Showdown
If there is more than one player who hasn't folded, the remaining players in the hand expose their hole cards in order to see who holds the best poker hand and this player is awarded the pot. Players use any 5 of their 7 cards to make their best possible poker hand. The player who placed the last bet or the last raise must show his/her hole cards.
The next player would be the player on the left who is in the same pot. If everyone checks in the last betting round, then the player who sits on the left of the dealer must show their cards. Except the first player, and the player who has a higher hand than all hands on table, every player has a choice to show their cards or not.
